Analysis and description of systemic trends and shifts in the international environment, especially regarding strategic armament, WMD-proliferation, missile programmes and missile defence, global military structure (military potentials, options, patterns of armed conflicts), strategies of major powers and regional balances of power.Later analyzing the security situation in the Caucasus, Eastern Europe and the Blacksea-Area were added to my tasks. I was the representative of the MoD in an interdepartmental working group drafting an Austrian strategy for the Blacksea Region. I am responsible for coordinating the cooperation of the MoD with non-governmental think-tanks in Austria which conduct research in the fields mentioned above.I frequently teach classes in international relations at the National Defence Academy and Military Academy.

Research work for Prof. Erich Reiter, predominantly regarding missile defence, strategic armament, proliferation of WMD, East Asian Strategic Affairs, Chinese foreign- and security policy, Turkey's foreign policy and its EU accession process, as well as drafting and preparing publications and research papers.

Founded by the former Commissionaire for Strategic Studies in the MoD (Prof. Erich Reiter) the institute was and is promoting research and discussion on all kinds of strategic and political issues. The institute promoted alternative strategic thinking to the traditional neutralist/isolationist position of Austrian parties, like a possible integration of Austria into NATO, full participation in CFSP, abandoning Neutrality, reforming the armed forces and abolishing conscription.Additionally the institute conducts debates and research on various issues in international relations, especially the situation in Eastern Europe, the Blacksea and Caucasus, EU-Russia-relations and military balances in the area.It was employed at a part-time basis, still it proved to be difficult to manage two jobs at a time. I still contribute to publications or research projects of the IILP.
