Research Assistant for the MUCogS Project. MUCogS is a framework for the updating of numerical models based on the premise that incompleteness on the experimental data leads to multiple solutions to the model updating problem. MUCogS creates physically meaningful numerical models of complex existing structures by adapting traditional optimization methodologies. The work developed for this project consisted in the implementation of a methodology for the integration of human expertise for the evaluation of physical meaning in model updating problems. The work is based in a probabilistic approach.

Research Assistant for the project "Fatigue Crack Growth in Structural Steel". The main objective of the project was the development of a methodology for service life prediction in steel bridges based on the monitoring of acoustic emissions and strain monitoring with portable devices. The developed work for this project consisted in the application of probability concepts for the estimation of effective stress-range from short-term undersampled data.
