Liaised with government, industry, and academia from various universities.• AI-Jumpstart: A new program by the government of Massachusetts to bring artificial intelligence to companies in the state. Interfaced with industry and start-ups, faculty researchers at Northeastern, Boston University, Tufts University, and MASSTECH. Worked on the program outreach; faculty and applicants’ guidance; pairing and coordination of faculty with awarded companies; and supporting start-ups with advice throughout the process. It led to the launch of 20 projects. • SENTRY- a center of excellence for the protection of soft targets: Worked with ALERT’s director and team in the preparation of the Department of Homeland Security site visit to Northeastern. Chaired the Industrial Advisory Board segment- well received by DHS and the ALERT Director. The 10-year $30M proposal was awarded in November 2021.• Program Manager: For trace explosive detection, Air Cargo synthetic X-ray scanner data, and Customs and Border Protection security and inspection projects with DHS S&T. Interfaced with government, contractors, and ALERT research community. Coordinated deliverables on a monthly basis on-time and in scope. • Business Development: Searched for industry and other partners. Interest in ALERT’s technologies and expertise came about with organizations like FedEx (vapor phase chemical detection), Detection Technologies (AI applied to X-ray detectors), Worcester Emergency Response groups (ALERT technologies with applications in emergency management).
