Univali is responsible for coordinating the Project for Monitoring the Beaches of the Santos Basin (PMP-BS), which is an activity developed to meet the conditionalities of the federal environmental licensing of Petrobras' activities, by IBAMA. Its objective is to assess the impacts of oil activities on certain marine animals, by monitoring the beaches and providing veterinary care to weakened live animals and collecting and studying the dead ones.The action refers to the engineering sector of this project, it was to implement 10 structures for veterinary care of marine animals in cities along the coast of three Brazilian states, São Paulo, Paraná and Santa Catarina.The function performed is in the technical analysis of the projects, supervision and inspection of the works and services provided, enabling the construction, operation and maintenance of the building, according to the present technical standards and regulations. Also noteworthy is the technical support for engineering issues related to the institutions participating in the PMP.

The Energy Efficiency in Buildings Laboratory is linked to the Department of Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Catarina.
