Currently I am Department Chairman (Department of Process Engineering at the School of Chemical Engineering) and Adviser to the Office of International Relations at UNICAMP.

NIPE carries out studies and research related to energy planning and to bioenergy, provides expert and professional consulting services as well as training of professionals in the interdisciplinary areas of energy, bioenergy and energy planning. NIPE is also responsible for the design and implementation of energy policies that especially suitable and compatible for the sustainable development of society.

The work at the Office of International Affairs include establishing agreements between Unicamp and Universitites outside Brazil. Thus, the advisers go on mission overseas and are responsibles for hosting missions visitng us at Unicamp. In 2011 the School of Chemical Engineering at Unicamp underwent a major reestructuring of all departments. As a result we went from five to four departments. One of these departments deals with major processes aspects of chemical engineering, ranging from thermodynamics, to reaction engineering to transport phenomena and biotechnology. Assistant professor in the School of Chemical Engineering.

After undergraduate work in Chemical engineering at Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME) I took a Master's degree in Chemistry at the same school. It took me 20 months to get the Master's degree, a short time when experimental work is involved. My Master's Thesis was on the decomposition of ethanol on titanium oxide catalysts modified by chromium. The results showed the formation of both ethene and ethyl ether but also of ethane, an unexepected product for that reaction.

My undergraduate work was in Chemical Engineering. At the Instituto Militar de Engneharia (IME) we use to takae the first two years with students of all majors. We picked a major only at the end of the second year (sophomore). In Brazil it takes five years (minimum) to graduate in any engineering course.
