• Collaborated with 8 researchers on detecting and predicting wildfire events using social media and environmental data, including data collection, cleaning, visualization and analysis using Python
• Implemented and maintained a web crawler to collect all the environmental data since 2013 from USGS, retrieved 1000+ environmental data per 6 hours
• Built machine learning models to evaluate the probability of wildfires in certain areas using environmental data collected above, including Naive Bayes, Decision Tree, Conditional Exponential and Maxent
• Implemented a task manager on the sever, integrated with a thread pool to keep track of the status of the tasks and to avoid system crash, prompting executable and ongoing tasks on the server for admin to start or kill.
