As unitmanager, I am responsible for the daily management and our strategic goals. I am sparring partner for colleagues from within and outside our organization and higher management.

In this role I advise our organisation and our board of Provincial Executives on environmental issues in general and more specific issues related to the ‘big themes’ such as energy transition or climate change. More over, policy priorities such as substances of high concern (ZZS), PFAS in the Western Scheldt, plastic nurdles and secondary materials are amongst my area of expertise.I am responsible for the contractmanagement for DCMR, which handles the issuing of permits, monitoring and enforcement of the Seveso companies in our region.

I am responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the information security policy. Together with a team of IT professionals I am responsible for detection of and response on external and internal threats. Province Zeeland has the ambition to certify its top 10 processes for ISO27001 by the end of 2021. In my role as CISO/ program manager information security, I am responsible for the implementation of the ISMS and applicable measures of ISO27001 and ISO27002/Baseline Information security governmental Organisations (BIO). Together with the information security team, I am working on raising security awareness of all employees within the organisation.

Within the IT unit, 14 people are responsible for the ICT-infrastructure of the Provincial organisation. The unit is responsible for system- en networkmanagement, user helpdesk, system development, database management, webdesign & -management and the technical/financial management of the print infrastructure. The head of the unit is responsible for the day to day management of the unit.

Within the unit ICT-GEO, 24 people are responsible for the ICT-infrastructure of the Provincial organisation. The unit is responsible for system- en networkmanagement, user helpdesk, system development, database management, webdesign & -management and the technical/financial management of the print infrastructure. The development and management of the geographic information of the Province (PGR, Inspire, nWRO, External Safety, Swimming water map etc.), the execution of GIS-based analysis and of course production of maps are the responsibility of the unit. The head of the unit is responsible for the day to day management of the unit.

The team Industry and Measurements within the Enforcement Department is responsible for compliance inspections on safety and environmental regulations and for conducting noise and emission measurements in the SEVESO II (BRZO-bedrijven) and IPPC cat. 4 industry in Zeeland.As teamleader, I am responsible for a team of 13 inspectors and measurement technicians in their day to day work. I am responsible for continuous improvement of the quality of inspections. Recently started with implementation of a new modeI for risk assessment and capacity planning.

Day to day work in this jobs consisted of issuing permits to complex petrochemical, waste processing and logistic businesses. This included:- Assessing whether (draft) applications of businesses are permitable according to National laws and European Directives (such as the IPPC-Directive). - Drafting the technical requirements accompanying permits and the permit itself (in close cooperation with the specialist legal affairs) - Negotiating environmental improvements both within permit procedures and in other contextsProject management on specific subjects, like local implementation of National legislation on car wracks and the guidelines on acceptance and processing policy for waste processing businesses. Representing the Provincial Authority in some 'Inter Provincial' consultative bodies For example in the working group that works on the Environmental Agreement (IMKO2) between large storage and transhipment companies, 3 provincial bodies and the Dutch National Government.

Responsible for the EH&S issues of this waste processing business. Drafting and submitting applications of (demolition, building and environmental) permits. Drafting and implementing of a EH&S management system and an administrative organisation. Responsible for maintenance, monitoring and reporting of the elaborate soil decontamination units on the site. Manager of the wastewater treatment plant. Responsible for the technological and financial optimisation of the plant. Marketing of the plant as a new player on the market of industrial wastewater treatment. Member of the management team

Hulst

Manager of the department Soil Research, Decontamination & Environmental Permits. Acquisition and planning of work. Assisting in the development of short and medium range policy of the department in close cooperation with the Director. Member of the Management Team. Leading interdisciplinary projects, like drafting and implementing an acceptance and production policy for a large processor of wastewater in the port of Rotterdam, complex applications for Environmental permits and studies on new or different techniques for treatment of industrial wastewater.

Small and medium-sized businesses were advised on Environmental, Safety and Quality issues. Compliance to environmental legislation and mediation between governmental organisations and businesses were focal points. Furthermore, assisting in drafting and implementing EH&S management systems was an important part of this job.
