My coaching focuses on self-reflection and re-framing that leads to wider personal change.My strategy coaching helps to manage the impact of neuro-diversity (specifically Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Autism and ADHD) in the workplace, and at home. This coaching journey is not specifically about goal-setting and planning but more about exploration, reflection and emergence.Coaching creates the space for inquiry, reflection, challenge and decision-making based on the assumption of autonomy, respect and curiosity. Coaching is a process where awareness, acceptance, and action work together to create energy and momentum around a topic. It involves building an overall understanding of what you want to accomplish but delves deeply into building awareness around any thoughts and assumptions that you may have about your topic. Unless you are intentionally focused on improving performance specifically, in which the outcome can be clearly measured, my style of coaching (ie. non-directive) focuses more on outcomes than goals.Outcomes may be looser and more subjective than specific SMART goals and are able to adapt to the emerging experience of change as it unfolds.But it is also about practical outcomes based on decisions and actions that are made along the way but are not guided by or directed towards a specific, predefined goal.What makes this coaching approach useful is that most people are unsure of what they want, and maybe apprehensive or fearful of the journey, uncertain whether they can really do what’s needed and ambivalent about their possibilities.My approach to coaching lends itself to exploration and emergence, far more than it does accountability, commitment and planning.It is a purposeful exploration of how you make sense of the world, your values, hopes, fears and so on, in order to help you to navigate complex choices that, almost invariably, bring some level of emotional response.It also accepts that people are always in a state of emergence through both a deepening understanding of themselves and the world, and the fact that the world around them is also changing.
