I have direct responsibility for one Environmental Technician that conducts the wastewater treatment operations and plating chemistry. Five Maintenance Techs, two Custodians, and the off-hour security force also report directly to me. In this position I was responsible for managing all safety and environmental affairs for Rocky Mount as well as all safety programs at the other U.S. locations. Monthly safety team meetings at the Rocky Mount and Winston-Salem locations, and semi-annual safety audits of the Connecticut location were conducted in conjunction with the worker’s compensation carrier’s Loss Control representative to target loss sources and potential safety concerns. Environmental issues ranging from ground water remediation, hazardous waste and air emissions were also part of my daily responsibilities. With each position I was directly responsible for all environmental and safety programs at the Creedmoor facility. By creating many new training programs, I developed a working relationship with the local community college through the “New and Expanding Business” training assistance offered by the state. My position also required me to maintain EPA compliance for all (14) fourteen locations. This required annual audits and training sessions at each facility that encompassed working closely with the senior management as well as the hourly production employees at each site. I reported all significant environmental and safety issues to the corporate Quality Assurance Manager as well as to the senior V.P. at each location.
