Worked with the Director of the Bureau of Justice Statistics on a daily basis in helping manage all areas of the Bureau. Assisted with conceptualizing, scheduling, creating, preparing, and editing statistical reports, press releases, publications and other materials for public dissemination. Researched and provided information on budget analyses, including fiscal year budgets and contracts. Conducted methodological and legal research and assisted the Director and top-level management on issues, policies, and programs in the Bureau of Justice Statistics and the Office of Justice Programs. Briefed the Director, Deputy Director, senior-level staff, unit chiefs, and statisticians on confidential and sensitive information concerning requests, policies, and procedures of the Department of Justice, the Office of Justice Programs, and the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Assisted in reviewing, interpreting, and recognizing implications of new procedures, formal documents, and legal developments affecting the bureau. Created, developed, and oversaw plans for implementing procedures and initiatives and responses to new legislation, executive orders. Oversaw the implementation of directives from the Department of Justice, the Government Accountability Office, the Office of Management and Budget, the Executive Branch, and the Legislative Branch. Supervised statisticians and management operations on day-to-operation, workflow, performance, and resource allocations. Attended and represented the Director and the bureau at conferences for professional organizations including the American Correctional Association, the National Congress of American Indians, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Oversaw the continuing operations of the Department of Government and Foreign Affairs including meetings, budget, future courses and lectures. Assisted in creating and overseeing major and minor requirements for students, and presented information for the department in meetings with the Dean of the Faculty, Provost, and President of the college. Advised and supervised hundreds of students majoring in government, including creating four-year plans for incoming freshman and coordinating their schedules with departmental professors. Collected information and presented figures for departmental assessment review each semester. Evaluated assessment practices and recommend novel changes which were implemented as necessary. Taught a wide variety of courses in government, Western culture, Constitutional law, research methods, and public administration. Presented research and analysis at international conferences through different methods of presentations. Closely reviewed hundreds of research grant proposals in a variety of subjects including English, history, psychology, foreign languages, political science, math, biology, classics, and others at the college. Awarded and oversaw implementation of grants to scholars as an elected member to the Professional Development Committee. Member of the Board of Trustees at the Wilson Center for Leadership at Hampden-Sydney College.

As a professor, taught a wide variety of courses on political philosophy, political science, political sociology, comparative politics, and Alaskan government. Founder of the ongoing William H. Seward Lecture Series that invited local and national political figures, governors, judges, civil servants, authors, scholars, and community-focused researchers to speak with Alaskan citizens in a public forum. Oversaw scheduling, fundraising, and budget items for the series. Advised myriads of students on schedules and careers. Served on special committee to help create a budget and student plan for the Department of Political Science. Served as advisor to student organizations including the Political Science Association and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
