Advising and supporting the Legatum Foundation on a number of areas related to their philanthropy. This has included developing new areas of work where local partners are funded to work on:• Community-based humanitarian response – supporting the “survivor- and community-led crisis response (SCLR)” approach in multiple countries• Family-based care for children - Implementing the national care reform strategy at a county level - starting in 3 counties in Kenya• Advancing justice by working on access to legal aid & other approaches addressing prison overcrowding – starting in 2 rural areas in UgandaAlso supporting work on the role of character, virtues, and personal transformation in leadership – internally to Legatum, within the network, and with external partners.I represent Legatum on the Steering Committee of the Deworming Innovation Fund (which is an END Fund initiative).

Led very successful unification of Save the Children Sweden & UK, and then achieved four-fold increase in program size. Led development and humanitarian programming (including 350+ staff) in a highly complex and dangerous security situation.

Management and strategic oversight of development and humanitarian programs. Senior leader in massive humanitarian response to cyclone Nargis from May 2008 – scaling up to over 1500 staff and annual budget of $50 million.

Global adviser on applying children’s human rights to programs. Co-author and editor of Save the Children’s Handbook on child rights programming (2nd edition).

Set up, expanded and led Children’s Rights Service for the largest child-focused NGO in the UK, serving children in foster care and children’s homes, as well as unaccompanied asylum seekers. The service I created won a national “Health & Social Care Award”. Worked closely with local policymakers, politicians and children to achieve changes for children.
