My mandate was to engage stakeholders among the local physician community and stake out a greater position of influence in regional healthcare policy and service delivery. By offering leadership and empowerment to a traditionally siloed community, I united its leaders behind shared objectives to provide care and engagement at the grassroots level.Together, we have taken on challenges in primary care delivery, policy development, and professional support for local practitioners, while rolling out the tactical and strategic changes necessary to meet critical gaps and shortages in access to family doctors in Powell River. My chief contributions to-date have been in building tools the increase capacity, enhance confidence, and equip member physicians to address primary healthcare needs in the community per provincial mandates and national best practices.
