I work very closely with our Engineers and have a large say in the Engineering Design of our projects.4. Myself along with our in-house Architectural team & Project Managers work closely together achieving a very high efficiency in design. This saves time & money as the project matures.5. Estimating/Pricing projects is a large part of my job. I provide the Sales team our price for the 'Kit' as we call it. This includes Drafting, Fabrication, Freight, Material Costs and anything else we are providing such as roof plumbing, roller/PA doors etc up to the point that it arrives on site. They then add the contractor pricing, erection & cranage and consultants fees to provide the client with their final price.Above all of this I believe that my main priority is to have my 5 man detailing team achieving the highest standard we can. I try to encourage them to think for themselves and 'own' their work but to do that you also have to arm them with the knowledge and the skills to do so. You require thick skin and the confidence to back yourself in this industry and in our line of work especially. This coupled with a thirst for knowledge and the willingness to learn from constructive, and at times not so constructive criticism, is how you meet the standards we strive to achieve. Show less

EMA's southern office had the opportunity to compose a concept design for Paradise Phosphate's Mt Isa Beneficiation Plant. The team would be based in the clients office in St Kilda for a six week period. They required a draftsman proficient in multiple disciplines as there was to be only one drafter in the team. I was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity.
