Where do I start? I was born into family history and fated to develop an interest by being giving the family name as my Christian name.This immersion in family history leads to the development of skills throughout life; these cover not only the obvious history, records searching and recording skills that instantly come to mind but also maths. Latin, transcription and proof reading as well as the ability to problem solve by creative thinking.It forms an inquisitive mind that does not simply accept what is presented but questions why the record or idea exists, what is its purpose and what use is it put to.My education in a Scottish private school, Dollar Academy, how to acquire knowledge as well as the basic academic skills required throughout life.
