Responsibilities included analyzing financial results and forecasts, M&A, competitive assessments, and financial liaison between the corporate office and Carrier’s management. • Collaborated with Carrier leadership to develop the strategy and business case to create a new segment, acquire and integrate over 30 companies which increased revenue from $6B in 1997 to $8.4B in 2000 and improved ROS over 200 basis points. • Initiated several programs related to $196M restructuring efforts focused on rationalizing manufacturing and improving margins by eliminating 3200 employees and 2.9M square feet of facilities.

Created a new 10 person team within UTRC to integrate business, technology and product strategies for UTC businesses in order to make strategic technology investment decisions. • Introduced scenario-planning to develop the long-range strategic plan for UTRC. Outlined five different global scenarios to identify the portfolio of technical capabilities required to compete and win across multiple scenarios in a 15 year future timeframe. Resulted in a realignment of staff and investments. • Managed UTRC’s international operations in Spain, Germany, Japan and China. Opened the first Wholly Foreign Owned R&D Enterprise in China (assigns intellectual property ownership). • Identified opportunities to license UTRC intellectual property resulting in annual revenues of $5M.

Manufacturer of Class II and III medical devices for surgical use. • Led a 10-person team that created build-to-order packaging and distribution center and supply chain management processes to enable a customer order-to-delivery cycle time of 72 hours for a new line of products; a 4X improvement resulted in savings of $8M. • Led team that trained all 550 employees and converted all the Albuquerque plant production lines to JIT manufacturing methods resulting in reduced inventory and cycle time saving $5M. • Consequently, led a team to implement JIT at Ethicon’s other plants in San Angelo, TX (1800 employees) and San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico (450 employees) plants. Received a Johnson & Johnson Achievement Award.
