I retired in May of 2014. I started by working summers as a laborer/lead man/foreman thru high school and collage. I was well educated by my mentors on building work in the field. (some of these mentors couldn't read or write - but they could figure out how to get the job accomplished. They versed me in areas including - dewatering, earthmoving and road building, landscaping and preparation, pipe laying - small diameter to large diameter in all types of soil conditions, tunneling soft ground to hard rock ( hand methods and machine methods) (drill and blast to compressed air conditions), pits - sheeting, soldier pile and ring beam and lagging as well as slide rail. Pipe on piling - wood, steel, auger cast - driven, vibrated and auggered in place. Curred in Place Pipe (CIPP) - small and large diameter - including over the hole wet out. Sewerage bypassing - low flows to over 50,000 gpm. I have also been mentored in the marine end of construction operations. Dredging - mechanical and hydraulic. Scour protection, sheeting walls, lock and dam rehabilitation, as well as diving operations and underwater rock removal. Most importantly I have been mentored - by these same teachers - in the hands on course of human relations.
