Appointed as the General Manager of GeoGAS Pty Ltd in December 2013, this role provided the opportunity to utilise and apply my diverse knowledge and experience in business, operations and project management as well specific or targeted technical areas relating to seam gas content testing services and consulting services. While seam gas management and coal bed methane knowledge and experience has been primarily gained in Australia, I am aware of gas management practices undertaken and methods applied in overseas coal producing countries like the US, China, India and Europe to effectively determine the size of their gas reservoir, its characterisation, the design methods to productively control seam gas emissions at optimum capital and operating while achieving acceptable safety outcomes through hazard identification and control.Becoming General Manager during a significant downturn in the coal industry in NSW and Queensland meant significant attention to detail was required in the areas of: • Productivity improvements• Cost reduction• Client satisfaction, retention and attraction of new clients• Continued application of an enhanced quality management system• Revenue generation with the implementation of new and related gas testing laboratory techniques• Business development both domestically and internationallyDuring my time in this role at GeoGAS, the operational and especially financial performance was stabilised and significantly improved through consistent focus on the above areas.
