I am a people person. Over the last decade I have taught many communication and FYE courses which have heightened my awareness to diversity. I enjoy working with new people and the challenges they bring.My background is quite diverse. I came from a foundation of public relations and management in finance but in the last decade I have been forging a second career in academia. I completed my M.A. in Communication in 2009 at the University of Louisville. In 2008 I started teaching at the college level and have been doing so ever since. I have acquired over 200 credit hours of instruction.My teaching experience has been wonderful and I’m constantly striving for more student involvement and interaction. For the past 11 years, I have taught Introduction to Public Speaking and Interpersonal Communication at Jefferson Community & Technical College. This is a school that is junior college and is a feeder school for the University of Louisville, Bellarmine, University of Kentucky and the University of Indiana. I set standards that will promote critical thought, interdisciplinary study and cultural awareness. I believe that the patterns I set for students during this period is crucial for their future academic success. In all of my classes, I incorporate criticism, research, video, and encourage extensive student discussion of each text. I believe strongly in the value of in-depth analysis as a means of understanding the sometimes complex theories introduced during these coursesDemonstrated accomplishments in, instructional and managerial positions as well as sales, public relations, graphics, interactive media, technical skills which have yielded many certifications, awards & accolades.
