I have two decades of experience in tertiary and government sectors, with a career focus on geo-strategic analysis, US-China relations and national security policy. I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Melbourne and Deakin University, covering subjects on US/China relations, Australian Foreign policy, US foreign policy, and US and Chinese society, history and culture. I have published a book on US-China relations with Routledge, and authored multiple peer-reviewed academic articles on US-China relations and national security policy. In the public sector, I have worked as a senate speech writer and foreign policy advisor, a policy officer in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and as a senior analyst at the Department of Defence. I have provided briefings to the Secretary of Defence, Chief of Army and other senior decision makers, and my analytical papers have been provided to the Deputy Prime Minister, used in significant strategy documents - including the Defence Strategic Review - and guided the demand for matching analysis from other teams in the department.I am committed to diversity and representation in the workforce, and my personal initiatives have been recognized at the Group level for supporting positive cultural change within Defence.
