Assigned to the Commonwealth Department of Health and to the National Health Funding Body (NHFB) as a Senior Business Analyst For the National Health Reform Enterprise Data Warehouse (NHR EDW) RFT, I provided the inspiration for, and lead the development of a series of business scenarios, establishing a vision for the future NHR EDW ‘client experience’, focusing on a future time when the NHR EDW had been implemented and was delivering value for clients. I personally wrote 6 scenarios, and helped review other’s scenario contributions. This work involved interviewing clients and really understanding the outcomes clients wanted for the NHR EDW. My contribution to this work was highly praised, and demonstrated: My proactivity in bringing my past scenario experience at the ATO to bear My client focus in focusing on outcomes clients are looking for My superior writing skills in combining a client experience and technical details into an engaging story. (this is a public document - examples available on request) I have played a key role in supporting the stand-up of the roles and operation of the Administrator and the NHFB, including supporting the development and implementation of the payments system, and facilitating many stakeholder education and feedback meetings. As part of this work I directed the creation of a procedures manual for the operation of the payments system. The design of the roles and operation of the payments system and supporting business processes have stood the test of time as robust and fit for purpose.  I defined the business rules for a data matching exercise as part of the Administrator’s responsibilities, and supervised the coding, development, and running of these rules, extending to assisting in the interpretation of the results. I have received praise from my supervisors and peers on my overall approach, proactivity, insight, execution, and professionalism in providing support and facilitation to the Administrator and NHFB.

In the role of Business Architect I delivered the following outcomes:o I reviewed existing Business Architecture work and, through my skills in drawing together both my own talents and those of other team members, I provided a new framework for the Business Reference Model (BRM). This framework presented a “business friendly” water rights management lifecycle view of business processes, linked to common business process patterns. This made the BRM relatable to business stakeholders and at the same time enabled the definition of the common “template” process patterns necessary to achieve an optimum level of process commonality between processes and between jurisdictions.o With the Project Manager and the Lead Architect, I helped develop a project plan for the delivery of the BRM within a suitable timeframe.

 Made a significant contribution towards the advancement of Business Intelligence (BI) at DIAC, at both a strategic and tactical level. For example:o I lead the development of an IDS discussion paper on DIAC’s BI needs, including a BI Strategy and a BI Competency Centre (BICC) for DIAC. o I facilitated the collection and validation of business requirements including business rules for a visa application data mart to support DIAC’s outcomes reporting requirements. Following the signoff of requirements, I successfully data modelled the required changes in the EDW, created a logical and physical data model of the required data mart, and arranged for the physical data model to be implemented into an Oracle database.o I designed and maintained logical and physical data models and implemented physical data models into DB2 development databases for several projects including CCM and SRS, including appropriate indexing for performance.o I coordinated and managed the implementation of all database changes through controlled releases into Integration Test, User Acceptance Test and Production.o I managed the IDS section’s relationship with current and prospective data modelling software vendors and relevant DIAC staff with respect to product defects and resolving appropriate replacement product purchase processes. Consulted with IDS staff and delivered practical standards on version control and development environment control for IDS.  Several colleagues including management colleagues have given me unsolicited comments that they have been very pleased with both my expertise and the results I have delivered, noting the responsiveness, optimism, energy and enthusiasm I bring to my work. Used my negotiation and mediation skills, and leveraged the good rapport I have with all staff to help resolve significant disagreements between personalities over strategic and tactical direction.

ResponsibilitiesAssigned at an Executive Level 2 (EL2) level to Business Solutions, a Tax Office business unit tasked with coordinating and assuring Tax Office design from a corporate perspective.Engaged in assigned Tax Office projects to provide overall design assurance, including a focus on Business Process Management and Information Management.Assigned to the Information Management project to facilitate design and outcomes.Assigned to ATO People (the Tax Office's HR division) to facilitate design, create and maintain logical data models and design business processes to serve business outcomes.

 Lead the Telstra business in the definition of requirements and the choice of the most suitable design in many areas. Successfully completed the Solution Design and provided ongoing design consultancy for many business initiatives. Successfully completed significant MICA Data Model changes to implement the business requirements Was pro-active in the ongoing improvement of work practices and procedures. Formed a good rapport with all personnel on the project, including business staff, technical staff, and project management. Leveraged this good rapport on many occasions to identify and resolve misunderstandings in the implementation of the business requirements.

 Played a key role in formulating the options for development in the early stages of the project. Lead the business in the definition of requirements and the choice of the most suitable design in many areas. Successfully completed associated Requirements and Design documents to support the delivery of the Energex Customer Management System (CMS). CMS is primarily a Call Centre application to support Energex’s ongoing corporate strategy of being more customer focused. Successfully completed the Data Model for the delivery of CMS Supported the use of RAD development techniques in the project. Played a key role in system documentation and in the ongoing development of the CMS development methodology. Successfully interacted with a significant number of stakeholders. Formed a good rapport with all personnel on the project, including the Graham Technology CRM specialists and technical staff, Fujitsu staff and management, Energex Business representatives and management, also Energex IT department representatives and Energex Audit and Legal areas. Leveraged this good rapport on many occasions to identify and help project management resolve misunderstandings and disagreements within the project.

ResponsibilitiesAssigned to Queensland Rail. Duties included analysis of IBM supplied utilities for Y2K readiness, and construction and execution of test cases to confirm Y2K readiness.Assigned to Greyhound Pioneer. Involved in data conversion and business analysis roles for the new reservation system.AchievementsFacilitated JAD sessions for the RAD development of a new reservations system for Greyhound Pioneer. This involved over a dozen key stakeholders in a review and confirmation of requirements.Successfully converted legacy data to a new Oracle database for Greyhound Pioneer. MS Access was used extensively in the staging of this data.Successfully assisted Queensland Rail with their Y2K readiness.

 Performed a key role in the business relationship between Sirrus and Metway for the RBT2 Project. Managed relationships with key Retail Banking stakeholders. Successfully managed the Demand Deposit area of the Conversion team for the Retail Banking Project. Successfully implemented many individual projects, (for example the Group Transaction Services project) on time, on budget, and with no significant defects. The functionality which was implemented with these projects was very well received by users. Successfully instigated and implemented process improvements in the interaction between Sirrus and Metway for the RBT2 project.
