Expert level of hands-on experience in several areas: (1) cell-based in vitro functional, enzymatic, and biochemical assays including cyclic AMP accumulation, adenylyl cyclase, luciferase assay, ELISA, and Western blotting; (2) standard molecular biology and cloning techniques including genetic construct design and execution, DNA sequencing, mutagenesis, Southern and Northern blotting, PCR, RT-PCR, library construction, and protein-DNA interaction assays such as mobility shift assay, DNase protection footprinting, and DNA methylation interference assay; (3) cell culture: primary cells culturing and transfection, cell line cells culturing and transfection, development and characterization of stable cell lines, and short-term tissue slice (3-D) cultures; (4) protein analysis such as SDS-PAGE and Western blotting; (5) cell death, viability, and apoptosis assays; (6) in vivo model animal study including mouse handling, in vivo compound administration, stereotaxic surgeries, behavioral studies, learning and memory experiments, and circadian behavioral studies; (7) specimen collection and microscopy related techniques including tissues collection, tissue sectioning and staining, histology, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, and light, fluorescence, and confocal microscopy; also (8) have some experience in gene knock-out and knock-in designs, olfaction studies, and basic bioinformatics.
