About Guy Davidson
I am a machine learning and cognitive science researcher, excited about opportunities to apply insights from cognitive science to the development of more human-like artificial intelligence. I enjoy investigating tasks where humans outperform current models by combining theoretical and experimental cognitive science work to explore how and why humans do better. I develop deep learning models that apply insights from cognition to these tasks, aiming to gradually narrow the gap between machines and humans. I am currently interested in the human capacity to generate novel playful goals that are challenging yet achievable. I am developing large language model-based approaches to this task, which I hope to apply to facilitate open-ended exploration of reinforcement learning problems. I have also worked on curriculum learning and neural network models of infant cognition.
