I started Charles Law PLLC to represent clients in the negotiation of financial agreements including prime brokerage, futures and options, physical and financial derivatives, limited partnership and credit agreements and to work on social impact investments.My experience in the financial industry is deep and covers managing, negotiating, and documenting a wide range of transactions. My experience includes working in both big law and boutique law firms and extends to clients across North America, Europe and Asia.Clients look to me for my pragmatic advice and hands on approach, and I take pride in knowing my clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring that they are consistently met, if not exceeded.I have presented on derivatives and ethical matters for clients, financial institutions, as well as industry associations, including the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, the International Energy Credit Association, the Practical Law Institute, the National Association of Women Owned Law Firms, the New York City Bar Association, the Futures Industry Association, the American Bar Association, and the New York State Common Retirement Fund. I have been a guest lecturer at the University of Toronto, American University Washington College of Law School, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and Georgetown Law. I also teach courses on “Energy Derivatives and the ISDA Documentation” and “NAESB Negotiations” at the Oak Leaf Energy Training institute.I was named a leading lawyer in Derivatives by Chambers in the Chambers USA Guide 2024. I am a member of the New York Bar and the Law Society of Ontario, and I am fluent in French.I started my career at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City and spent time at Stikeman Elliot and Torys in Toronto.
