For this project, I was tasked with putting together a team that could deliver a multi-disciplined package of signed contracts ready to go at the push of a button. It was for a high-profile client on the West Coast of Africa.From the top line, the brief was simple, deliver contracts in the following: Shipping export (Bauxite and Iron Ore) Infrastructure (Telecommunications & Civil Engineering) and deliver a winning pitch for an Election Campaign. The reality was that, it was complex, incredibly testing, and we were working against stiff opposition.Adapting to different methods of working, keeping a large team gelled together when stress levels and stakes were high, making sure cultural differences in the way in which business is conducted were adopted and most importantly, delivery.The 18 months I spent on this project was the most exciting, stressful, rewarding, and challenging I have ever experienced, as well as this project, I had a couple others in the background closer to home which added to probably one of the most productive years of my career/life to date.Regretfully the project came to an end before it was able to be released, which I felt was a massive disappointment, circumstances out of my control unfortunately and frustratingly! I took away from this that not everything can be controlled, and there is a certain element of the stars needing to align for the really ambitious projects to work.Questions I ask myself:- If I had the chance would I take on another project like that again? – YES- Would I do anything different – Definitely- Did I learn from the experience – YES, without a doubt.

This was the second contract that I was involved with high net worth individuals. The overall contract value was, in the end, £18m refurbishment of a 7 bedroom house. The house underwent extensive structural changes, including the introduction of a 10,000sq ft basement incorporating carpark, gym, cinema complex. Everything was bespoke. Working in partnership with the Crown Estates was tough, but a pleasure.... in the end.

I worked as a trainee Pyrotechnician on some great productions. Having some great fun in the process. When I wasn't blowing things up or setting fire to sets, I was working on a 60ft boat that was being built in the NZ Film Effects warehouse. Met some amazing people that have become lifelong friends. Whilst I was in NZ, I got my Open Water diving cert with SSI. Totally amazing.
