As a member of the Gates Foundation TB Delivery team, I design and support investments to improve engagement of private healthcare providers for TB care and prevention, as well as planning for the introduction of new TB diagnostic tools and approaches.

• Developing private sector component of Gates Foundation Nigeria Country Office Strategic Plan (for Gates Foundation, September 2018 – February 2019)• Delivering technical support to private provider engagement for TB in India, notably to the RNTCP, the “JEET” partners in Global Fund program and the World Bank (for Gates Foundation, July 2018 onwards)• Lead author for “Engaging private healthcare providers in TB care and prevention: a landscape analysis”, and “Public-Private Mix TB prevention and care: a roadmap”, published by WHO (for WHO, May-October, 2018)• Developed private provider engagement component of Nigeria’s 2018 TB funding request to the Global Fund (for WHO, February-May, 2018)• Developed a strategy for supporting improved engagement of private healthcare providers for TB control: conducted an extensive situation analysis, including field work in India, Indonesia, Philippines, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Pakistan; drafted chapter for Lancet Commission; presented findings at TB PPM Working Group meetings; recommended investment strategy (Gates Foundation, February 2017-January 2018).• Led sub-team on public-private mix for Joint External Monitoring Mission of Indonesia’s National TB Control Program (for Gates Foundation via Global Health Strategies, January 2017).• Provided technical support for preparation of India’s National Strategic Plan for TB (Gates Foundation via Global Health Strategies, March-April 2017).• Developed strategy for an innovative technological alternative to conventional cryotherapy for treatment of precancerous lesions: assessed market potential in India, articulated product differentiation, identified pathways to impact and developed a market-shaping plan (Jhpiego, February-April 2017).• Developed strategic framework and monitoring plan for maximizing social impact of $1 billion portfolio of investments in hospitals and diagnostics networks (Gates Foundation and Abraaj Growth Market Health Fund, February –December 2016).

Burlington, Vermont Area

Led international NGO -- dedicated to cervical cancer prevention through partnership with coffee producer cooperatives, coffee companies and ministries of health in Africa and Latin America -- through comprehensive and radical transformation of strategy, systems and operating models. Increased program impact 4-fold while diversifying income, building new programs and strengthening field capacity.

Led development of innovative models to improve primary healthcare systems and services in Africa and Asia, especially by improving engagement of non-state providers and stewardship of health markets. Developed and managed grants and other investments, supported strategy development and advised program teams throughout the foundation.

Myanmar

Led most innovative and effective social marketing affiliate in period of extraordinary growth. Responsible for overall leadership, setting strategic and technical direction, representation, fundraising and development of staff and systems. PSI/Myanmar became the most diversified of programs, delivering nationwide 17 products and services that included full range of contraceptives, malaria diagnosis and treatment, voluntary HIV counselling and testing, STI syndromic management, TB diagnosis and treatment, and household water treatment. Communications activities included TV soap operas and advertisements, print media, 5 mobile video units, 60 Behavior Change Communicators and peer educator network. Managed 500 staff nationwide.

Led development and expansion of PSI’s European affiliate. Strengthened PSI’s relationships with DFID, EC and UN agencies. Programs addressed family planning, HIV/AIDS and malaria prevention in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Provided technical assistance to PSI affiliates in fundraising, strategic planning, project cycle management, pro-poor programming and cost analysis. Directed special projects for UNAIDS and Roll Back Malaria. Led PSI engagement in DFID-funded Microbicide Development Program and organization-wide initiatives on sustainability and poverty-focussed programming.

Developed and managed a new department for provision of technical assistance in marketing, research, monitoring and evaluation and program analysis for social marketing affiliates in 45 countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. Managed a multinational team of 8 professionals and led organisation-wide initiatives

Responsible for management and technical support to affiliated social marketing organizations addressing family planning, HIV/AIDS and malaria in 9 countries of Eastern and Southern Africa. Provided technical assistance in project cycle management, the development of proposals and marketing plans, monitoring and evaluation.
