THE DIWA ZAMBEZI CONSERVATION FUNDThe charity's mission is to expose foreigners to Southern Africa's wonders, and some of the tribulations it is constantly confronted with. As with any place on earth, all is not always merry in this great southern land. Believe it or not, people will apply for mining tenements in national parks, they will ignore the pleas for ecology studies, they will give preservation of a wilderness area and developing it for agriculture equal weight and they will ignore the poaching threat until it is too late. So we've established that there was a need for a conservation charity but let's be honest with ourselves here. Should we have expected foreigners to donate to a cause for some far off place when the local cancer hospice is struggling for funds? No. Which is why you're reading about this charity on a travel website. Go on a Diwa safari and ask questions later is our modus operandi. That said, we have hosted a couple of successful fundraisers, the profits of which have been used principally in supporting our two implementing partners, The Tashinga Initiative and Conservation Lower Zambezi. Specifically, our pet project of late has been the construction of the Nyakasikana anti-poaching base in Mana Pools National Park. Ultimately, we'd like to be involved with conservation organisations in all of the wilderness areas and national parks we visit with clients. Baby steps...

CYSTIC FIBROSIS RESEARCH LIMITED Cystic Fibrosis Research Limited (CFRL) was established in April 1990. The objective of CFRL is to act as custodian of a ‘Capital Fund’ for the purpose of facilitating research into, investigation of and the eventual cure of Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis Research Limited (CFRL) is to act as custodian to ensure the wise investment of the Capital Fund so that the interest and earnings from the underlying investments (but not the capital of the Fund itself) may be used for funding research projects.CFRL retains at least 10% of earnings as an inflation hedge and to grow the Capital Fund. The remainder paid out as research grants or accumulating for future research projects. Additional moneys may be obtained by means of grants, promises, gifts, bequests or by any other lawful means to invest any money obtained for the above purpose. The Directors of CFRL are to invest and deal with the moneys of the Capital Fund which are not immediately required for research funding, in a way which the Director think fit and is permitted by law for the investment of trust funds.CFRL is independently run by a board of volunteers with business expertise. Its outlays are minimal, being confined to unavoidable statutory fees.CFRL’s cumulative investment in research now exceeds over $1,000,000 in research grants funded. Most has been as seed funding in original research, many projects having started with CFRL support and graduated to major funding from organizations such as National Health and Medical Research Council and international agencies.
