Principal
CurrentAs Principal of Woolgoolga High School (900 students), I have led the transformation of the school towards a 21st century learning institution. Upon arrival in 2011, all learning spaces, for example still used chalk blackboards. Now the school is leading the way in Bring Your Own Device, interactive data projectors are found in all learning spaces and learning spaces have been opened up for all to see. Staff are motivated more than ever and both staff and students enjoying their learning.Woolgoolga High School has also led the way nationally in the Welfare area, being recognised by Federal Minister of Education for our nationally recognised student led welfare initiative S.M.I.L.E.Woolgoolga High School was instrumental in helping the state wide OCHRE Aboriginal initiative gain traction. Our school was the first NSW school to teach an Aboriginal language (Gumbaynggir) to all 180 year 7 students as part of our compulsory language program.During my time at Woolgoolga High I have led the professional learning of many other high schools, one example of my work can be found at guywright.com.au (enjoy these resources created by this innovative project).
