Was instrumental from 1983 to 2002 in helping The Weather Channel Forecast Center develop products for on air use. Used forecasting skills to increase the accuracy of products, such as quantitative snow precipitation forecasts and current surface maps, while on shift. Was a useful part of the Global Forecast Center of The Weather Channel from 2002 to 2014 helping to oversee updated local forecast scripts for over 10,000 domestic sites and approximately 5,000 international sites. Greatly aided those in the development of Digit, which is TWC's forecast graphic interface system. Developed the select by forecast sites fuction in Digit, which was my initial idea.In the realm of Climate Science, started keeping statistics on surface daily record highs and daily record lows on 01/01/2000, which led to the Meehl ET. Al Study published in Geophysical Science Letters in 2009. Created, implemented and helped to format the Meehl study, which has become another method for measuring climate change.As far as surface data in association with the Meehl Study goes, I have been quoted in The New York TImes and The Washington Post (Capital Weather Gang). My data has appeared in Popular Science Magazine and in Time Magazine. Climate Central has also used my data.The National Climatic Data Center has used my surface record compilation ideas for their monthly climate reports.In association with climate science, have been writing a blog for weather.com and wunderground.com entitled "The Climate Lottery" since 2010. Since Dr. Jeff Masters, the CEO of Wunderground, was impressed, "The Climate Lottery" became a front page item on the blog page.
