As a Graduate Student Fellow 2014-2015, I was in charge of the research project on Scale, complexity and visibility in modern climate science. This project was interested in producing anthropological insights on how scientific knowledge on global climate change is produced through the interaction of climate scientists with Andean glaciers, and allowed me to join several scientific expeditions to obtain ice cores from the Quelccaya, the largest tropical glacier on Earth.

I was a teaching assistant in the Department of Anthropology for the following undergraduate courses: Ethnography and Cinema (Spring of 2014), Understanding Aid (Fall of 2013), and Invitation to Anthropology (Spring of 2013).

Earth Institute

I was a research assistant at the Center for Research on Environmental Decisions of The Earth Institute for the project: Decision Making under the Impact of Glacial Retreat among Residents of Vulnerable Zones: Perception of and Response to Climate Change leaded by Dr. Ben Orlove. As a graduate research fellow I was in charge of coding interviews of people who lived close to glaciers in the US Rocky Mountains, the Swiss Alps and the Peruvian Andes.

I was in charge of elaborating reports that, based on in depth ethnographic exploration, linked the implementation of a set of climate change adaptation technologies in Andean herding communities to a larger body of academic work on the effects of climate change in the Andes. These results were published in a book on climate change adaptation co-edited by Oxfam America and Practical Action.

I was in charge of various activities related to institutional planning, management of research and development projects, and institutional representation in Peru and abroad. In addition, I organized a number of regional and international academic events.

I conducted several studies on topics related to the socio-cultural and territorial impacts in Andean societies of global transformation processes such as the expansion of market economy, the construction of major road infrastructure, and climate change. My research was published in articles, book chapters and in a book co-edited by CBC and the European Commission.
