About Gretchen Van Der Veer, Phd

With over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, I am passionate about strengthening communities, particularly those impacted by racism, discrimination and poverty, through building capaicty with local nonprofits, engaging and mobilizing residents, providing more access and opportunities, and partnering with businesses, philanthropy and governments. Fair Chance has been doing this for 20+ years and in 2023 alone we worked with 100 nonprofit organizations to create better conditions and outcomes so that more children, youth, and families can succeed.In addition to my role at Fair Chance, I also serve as a facilitator for the New Strategies Program at Georgetown University's Business for Impact, where I help nonprofit leaders develop and implement new fundraising approaches and strategies. I also teach courses on Organizing for Social Justice, Ethical Leadership, and Nonprofit Management as an affiliate faculty member at the George Washington University. I leverage my skills and knowledge in nonprofit organizations, leadership, fundraising, movement building, adult learning to empower and inspire the next generation of social change and racial justice leaders.
