Team Lead: Business Intelligence
CurrentIn 2015, Omnia embarked on replacing its current ERP system with Microsoft AX. This afforded the BI team with the opportunity to completely revamp our department. We expanded considerably in preparation for this change, with myself becoming the team lead to coordinate this change. I am currently responsible for a team of roughly 14 members, consisting of data warehouse and front end developers as well as business analysts and consultants. My responsibilities include1. Re-architect of BI 2.0 at Omnia1.1 Sizing of the new BI servers.1.2 Collaborate on how to structure and implement BI 2.0.2. Create methodology and best practices.3. Presentation of new architecture.4. Lead various teams in establishing the new environment4.1 Convert current data warehouse environment from using automation tools to SSIS packages4.2 Convert Cognos reports to SSRS reports4.3 Convert certain Qlikview Apps to PowerBI reports5. Manage details of new BI projects5.1 Conduct daily stand up meetings with team for ongoing projects.5.2 Prioritized projects, and using Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services to break the project down in tasks and assign resources and manage the resources to deliver the project in scope and within time.5.3 Conduct code review of SSIS work done by developers, confirming that it is following best practices and guidelines set out by Omnia.5.4 Once code review has been passed, I or an Omnia data warehouse developer will deploy to production.5.5 Oversee internal testing and UAT testing of all front end reports.6. Interview possible new team members when needed.7. Train new team members and consultants as the team grows due to the increased demand for BI at Omnia.8. Assess and manage Day to Day support for ad hoc requirements for BI work, assigning it either to a resource or create a new project for it.9. Maintain and perform Disaster Recovery tests annually of entire BI environment.10. Plan and co-ordinate monthly Omnia PowerBI community.
