Blankenship served as Chairman and CEO of Superior Controls, Inc. He helped transform a small 20 year old, 30 person Control Systems Integrator having only three significant Detroit-based automotive customers into a diversified Industrial Automation and Controls group. During his tenure, SCI achieved 5-fold organic revenue growth and increased staff to more than 180 technical professionals by penetrating aerospace, off-highway vehicle and defense related industries. Wes Blankenship and Steven Brodzik created the subsidiary RedViking engineering group and brand separate from the parent SCI business to focus on larger-scale capital equipment programs. Within its first year, this newly formed group far out performed the SCI controls business being managed by the current principals and the entire company is now operating as RedViking.Blankenship also served as a Director of Coherix, Inc. during part of his tenure with SCI. Coherix is focused on 3D vision and laser holographic measurement technologies.

Blankenship was an operating executive with Danaher Corporation, a Fortune 500 company with a leadership position in process and environmental controls, motion and tools. While with Danaher, he served as President of the M&M Precision Systems group of companies who are recognized world leaders providing specialized metrology and motion systems to vehicle powertrain, aerospace, and semiconductor manufacturing industries. Blankenship helped M&M evolve into a multi-national provider of sophisticated 3D CNC gear metrology systems and positioned this division for sale to a global machine tool builder.Blankenship also served as a Director of the American Gear Manufacturers Association and as a Trustee of the ASME Gear Research Institute during his tenure with Danaher and GM.

Blankenship spent nearly fifteen years with General Motors Corporation serving in various engineering, manufacturing and management roles with the former Hydra-matic Division and GM Powertrain Advanced Engineering Group ultimately achieving executive responsibility for engineering, component testing and related research and development activities for transmission and engine gear systems.
