With expertise in research and writing—and background in arts, humanities, libraries, and higher education—I enjoy demanding projects that require in-depth analysis: delving deep, utilizing technology, assessing all sides to achieve an optimal product, and then presenting thorough results in a pleasing, cohesive, and accessible manner.EXPERIENCE:In my current position in Visual Resources, Art Department, University of West Georgia, I help students and faculty locate content for courses—utilizing the electronic resources/databases to mine for the most trustworthy, professional, and nuanced results. To meet this goal, I initiated a project to catalog digital images of artwork using library metadata protocol and make them available to academic users in an online system. My library experience also includes curating exhibits. Beginning my career in special collections (rare books, archives), I learned to take primary artifacts and present them in an educational manner—arranging material a coherent narrative so that it provides a story for the viewer. In addition to my current position, I serve as Gallery Representative for the Serenbe Art Farm, where I introduce visitors to contemporary artwork.VALUES:I embrace new technologies and am eager to learn, a necessity in a dynamic and innovative workplace. While I like working independently, I also thrive on interacting with customers, helping them to find the best possible solutions, whether it be through research, writing, or instruction. I taught English and library classes, which provided indispensable experience—allowing me to formulate creative strategies for learning with an emphasis on analytical thinking, a value I take with me to every professional career challenge.AVAILABILITY:I work independently on research, writing/editing, cataloging, and curatorial projects. Please feel free to contact me if you need the this expertise from someone with academic credentials and experience in the arts and humanities.
