In 1998, he founded his studio CURIOSITY with producer Reiko Miyamoto in Tokyo dealing with product, interior design and architecture. The recognisable characteristics of Gwenael Nicolas’ designs are translucency, emotional coloring and attractive forms. If you use his products or encounter his spaces, you quickly realize that his designs are not simply about obvious beauty but that considerable thought has also gone into their functionality. The designs originate from a storyboard with subjects as central focus to which he always incorporates an element of discovery and unpredictability.He was chosen as the Interior designer of Ginza 6-chome project, the largest multi-purpose building in Ginza with world-class quality retail facilities.Recent work include the design for prestigious fashion brands from Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Berluti, Moncler, Dolce&Gabbanna, Versace.CURIOSITY develop unique retail concept for those luxury brand, concept that will be implemented worldwide. The projects are developed into highly immersive retail experience where architecture, space, art and technology fuse into a seamless experience. CURIOSITY extended its activity recently in the world of Hospitality with numerous hotel projects in Europe and Asia.After receiving several awards for product design and architecture (AIA), Unesco Prix deVersailles, Nicolas received the Ku/kan prize, the most prestigious interior design award in japan for the first time presented to a foreigner.
