G. W. JUSTIN PLATTS, PLA, ASLA, CLARB, LEED® AP is a Landscape Architect and Principal at RDG Planning & Design, a nationally-recognized multi-disciplinary design firm. As an award-winning designer, Justin’s work has been recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), American Planning Association (APA), and Public Art's Year in Review. Justin has authored and co-authored articles for multiple trade and professional organization magazines. As a recognized expert in his field, he regularly presents and speaks at institutions and conferences on the importance of an inclusive public process when seeking a successful community design. A skilled listener and practiced presenter, Justin leads public involvement and design workshops across the country to assist groups, municipalities, and institutions to create meaning together. His love for people of all kinds and the artful design of places for communities are the driving force behind his work. Justin’s advocacy for the importance of sustainability, walkability and vitality in urban areas led him to work as a part of a team to start a local District council for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Iowa where he has served multiple leadership roles including District Council Chair and most recently Governance Chair. Justin received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University.
