As a project engineer, I act as a bridge between the office and the field. I review inspector’s IDRs on a daily basis and generate a report on the activities from the previous night (all of our work is at night). I address any safety, quality or other issues identified with the proper personnel. I coordinate work activities with the Contractor and evaluate their work plans. I also review contractor submittals, RFIs and other official correspondence and draft responses for review by the Project Manager. I determine merit for Contractor lost time claims, estimate the cost of the claims for change orders and lead negotiations. I review the contractor's monthly requests for payment and determine merit. I generate monthly and quarterly reports on job progress.

As a quality assurance engineer on this project, I worked closely with the quality control staff and the design-builder to ensure quality. I prepared assessments, using a Quality Assurance Oversight Database developed by Delcan, to gauge the design-builders adherence to state specifications and identify non-conformances. My main area of focus on the project was bridges. I have performed inspections on pile driving, spread footers, abutment walls, drilled shafts, columns, pier caps, precast girder installation, steel girder installation, deck placements, steel & concrete painting, finishing work, rail installation, grinding and grooving of decks, parapets and soundwalls. I have also taken part in final walk-through of bridges and developing punchlists prior to final acceptance.

As a field engineer, I was responsible for ensuring that all construction activities were completed in accordance with the approved construction plans, specifications and associated submittals. I maintained constant communication with the contractor and sub-contractors and assisted in coordinating inspectors to monitor daily construction activities.
