Triton Express (PTY) Ltd is a leading provider of road freight, supply chain, warehousing and fleet management services, with operations across South Africa and into neighbouring countries. I am currently employed by Triton Express as Group Finance Director, where I oversee Finance, IT, HR and Legal functions for the Group, encompassing the Holding company and 8 subsidiaries, with ownership for providing financial input and strategic insights to the Board and executive management teams to shape operations. I am accountable for overseeing risk management activities, including embedding and enhancing internal financial controls and policies, insurance, contracts, regulatory and legal compliance, and work closely with the board, shareholders and investors as a trusted financial leader and business partner with subsidiary management teams.My remit includes performing investment appraisals, managing cash flow and working capital, preparing annual financial statements and annual budgets with quarterly updates, and managing group reporting and analysis. Most notably, I was instrumental in driving growth throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, increasing revenue / profit growth by 50%, shareholder value by 40% and growing the business into a 1BN ZAR turnover business. I played a key role in facilitating a group ownership restructure including a vendor financed internal management buy-in and was appointed as a member of the Social & Ethics Committee and the Pension Fund Committee.

Glodina (PTY) Ltd is the cornerstone of supply to the hospitality industry within Southern Africa over the past 20 years and is a premium product provider amongst terry towelling manufacturers. It is the oldest heritage brand in South Africa. In my capacity as CFO, I led a high-performing finance team of 15 and reported directly to the CEO and Group CFO regarding financial aspects of the business. I worked with internal and external audit teams regarding audits, including the completion and submission of quarterly and annual audit packs, prepared annual tax returns and tax packs, and oversaw funding / cash flow planning and controls. In addition, I managed the on-site logistics service provider, Unitrans, with ownership for analysing and controlling warehouse and distribution costs through effective negotiation.Most notably, I succeeded in stabilising performance of the company, reducing losses and providing recommendations to the business owners after conducting an in-depth analysis of the situation, which led to the sale of the company to the government. I was also instrumental in driving continuous improvement across the company by providing key input into business growth, risk management, funding requirements, cash flow planning and change management.

Inverse International (PTY) Ltd is a leading textiles business. I was hired as Finance Executive to lead improvements across the finance function processes and systems, and provide insights into strategy, business development and product / customer development initiatives. I managed 3 direct reports and was accountable for developing and implementing internal financial controls and procedures. In addition, I managed working capital, cashflow and funding requirements through debtor finance, and reviewed bank accounts, cash book, bank reconciliations, bank reporting, cash flow forecasting and FX management.I provided a range of financial insights to guide and inform decision making, including managing production costings, variance analysis, Capex investment, ROI, monthly management reporting, VAT / PAYE returns, statutory reporting and company tax calculations and submissions. Most notably, I was instrumental in turning around business performance to enable sale of the company, and I led the successful end-to-end delivery of transformation across the finance function to streamline, automate and enhance processes. I also played a key role in implementing an optimal raw material procurement plan to ensure timely availability of raw materials to meet production demands.

Pumpserve is a leading distributor and stockist for all major pump brands including Franklin, Grundfos, Southern Cross, Wilo and Xylem. It provides pump repair and servicing through a network of engineers. I was the co-owner of the business, and oversaw the day-to-day operations across strategic, financial, operational, HR, IT, administration, distribution, regulatory and legal functions. I led strategic financial control and development activities, including setting and reviewing budgets and forecasts, analysing accounts and implementing financial controls, and managed a high-performing team of 18 direct reports.My remit as Founder / Co-Owner involved overseeing business funding requirements, monitoring cash flow and working capital, and preparing quarterly reports to banks. Most notably, I drove profitability through product diversification, developing new customer relationships and expanding into new markets, and succeeded in growing the company into a well-established player in the pump industry. Following this, I subsequently sold my shares and exited the company.
