Gwynedd Vetter-Drusch Email and Phone Number
Originally from Seattle, WA, Gwynedd (the daughter of two theatre professionals) developed a love of theatre at her actor-director mother’s side. At 13, while living in rural Iowa, she discovered she also loved ballet— she felt that dancing gave her the ability to fly. After driving two to four hours each way to study ballet through high school, she graduated as class salutatorian at age 17 and moved to New York City to study in a ballet conservatory. In 2009-10, she danced in the second company of Tulsa Ballet, performing in "The Sleeping Beauty" and Ben Stevenson's "Dracula;" that same year she was recognized by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts' YoungARTS program for achievement in ballet. The following year, she moved to New York City to dance under the direction of Gelsey Kirkland, performing the role of Marie/Sugar Plum Fairy in "The Nutcracker." When an injury caused Gwynedd to reconsider her dance career trajectory, she pivoted to acting. Highlights of her professional theater credits include: Rosalind in "As You Like It," Hotspur in "Henry IV," Titania in "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" and Perdita in "The Winter’s Tale" (Saratoga Shakespeare Co.); "Phantom" (The Fireside); Molly Aster in "Peter and The Starcatcher" and Bird/Mouse/Mole/Squirrel in "A Year with Frog and Toad" (Cider Mill Playhouse). In 2013, while dealing with her dance injury, she started a multi-media performance project called Moving for Monarchs in order to bring awareness and move people to take action to help stop the disappearance of monarch butterflies due to habitat loss due to human activity. For the project, Gwynedd has directed two films, staged story ballets, and presented a "TED Performance Talk" at TEDxPMO in Morelia, Mexico. Most recently, Gwynedd can be found performing with and choreographing for Chevalier Ballet in New York City and running her ballet coaching/training program for talented Midwest dancers who lack access to ballet training (The Ballet Barn). She is simultaneously working to complete a double major in Cinematic Arts and New Media and Creative Writing at Maharishi International University. Instagram: @BalletBarn
