Gypsy Lehmann Email and Phone Number
I am a PhD candidate at the University of Tasmania, researching what it is to belong to, with, and within a world in which the status quo is variously characterised by unsustainability and injustice. My research focuses on the home as a site in which issues such as alienation, economic instability, climate risk and other crises pertinent to the Anthropocene, are felt. Using mixed methods such as autoethnography and participatory arts-based interventions, I am interested in the embodied, often habitual, ways in which humans understand, experience and construct their homes in the modern world. The aim of my research is to better understand what embodied patterns are inherent to the systems and practices that perpetuate unsustainability and injustice in the home, and to explore how new and under-acknowledged ways of being and knowing, underpinned by sustainability and justice, may be brought to the fore. At the conclusion of my doctorate, I intend to adapt my thesis for publication in book form for readers of creative non-fiction.At the core of my work to date, both in the academic arena, and in professional settings, is a love of storytelling and a desire to foster connections between people through mutual respect.
