Reporting to the Managing Executive of Consumer Banking Products, responsible to lead, facilitate and coordinate the business planning and development strategy that creates and enhances transactional, deposits, unsecured lending and rewards products across the Consumer Banking business to ensure our products are competitive and profitable.Duties:- Facilitate and design the product development, pricing and distribution strategy in conjunction with the lines of business heads and cross product functions.- Establish a way of work between business and support functions in the new operating model- Entrench the use of the industry’s latest trends and best practices for product planning, life cycle management and performance measurement.- Build and maintain strong relationships with executives in other businesses to ensure that the correct long-term aligned project view is created and followed.Achievements:- Formulated and executed a turnaround and alignment strategy in Consumer Banking, which resulted in non-interest revenue coming from a decline to 2% growth in the following year.- Initiated and developed a second look loan book partnership opportunity that would generate R25m p.a. uplift in fee revenue see Absa increase its shared in primary transactional banking in a segment that were at the time declined for loans. Decision by Personal Loans not to continue and rather revisit lending risk appetite, which has since increased monthly production by 20%.- As interim head of Absa Rewards for 6 months, stabalised the management team who were off track against the short term plan targets. Implemented R50m pa savings within that period with the introduction of earn caps based on two design principles, stop abuse and minimize customer impact.Reason for leaving:The consumer banking business was split into its separate product areas and the functional role of retail bank strategy moved into the newly established Personal Customer Segments.
