As an early years preschool practitioner working within the framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), my roles and responsibilities are focused on supporting children’s learning and development through play-based, child-centered approaches. The EYFS guides my work by setting standards for learning, development, and care for children from birth to five.I am responsible for planning and delivering activities that cover the seven areas of learning and development outlined in the EYFS: communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design. Through these areas, I create a balanced curriculum that encourages children to explore, ask questions, and develop new skills at their own pace.Observation is a key part of my role. I regularly assess each child’s progress against the EYFS Early Learning Goals, ensuring that I adapt activities and environments to meet their individual needs and support their ongoing development. I carefully document this progress, which helps me tailor learning experiences and also provides valuable insights to parents.Another key responsibility is safeguarding, as ensuring the safety and welfare of the children is a priority. I follow EYFS policies to create a safe, inclusive environment where all children feel secure and supported.Additionally, I work closely with parents and caregivers, sharing regular updates on their child’s development and suggesting ways they can continue learning at home. My ultimate goal is to help children thrive, ensuring they are ready for the next stage of their education, while enjoying a rich, nurturing early learning experience.
