Graduate research assistant in the Nanostructured Semiconductor Materials and Devices Group where I work on the design and fabrication of integrated photonic quantum circuits and the development of novel nanofabrication techniques for ultra wude band-gap semiconductors.

Unilaterally developed and implemented a number of improvements on an existing custom-designed scanning XRF spectrometer. These included a system of helium injection and a new silicon drift detector assembly which together markedly increased both peak resolution and signal to noise ratio as well as decreasing the minimum observable energy threshold. This device was then applied to a number of cultural heritage projects.

As part of the international APPEAR Project, I am working to characterise a ~ 3rd century Egyptian funerary portrait in the Louvre Abu Dhabi's collection. The analysis involves the use of XRF, Raman spectroscopy, and PLM - among other techniques.

Characterised a number of metallurgical slag samples from the Central Asian steppe using XRD, XRF, SEM, and optical microscopy. In doing so, I was able to conclusively determine the nature of the production processes that gave rise to the debris as well as the metals that were worked.
