Hackyoung Bae is an Associate Professor at the Department of Military Strategy in the Korea National Defense University, as well as a Director of Center for Military Strategy Studies in the Research Institute of National Security Affairs. His academic and military credentials are impressive, with an MA in International Relations from the Korea National Defense University, an MS and PhD in Political Science from Florida State University, and various military courses, including the Joint Staff Course at Joint Forces Military University in Korea.Professor Bae's research interests lie in the areas of maritime strategy, naval force development, and interstate rivalry theory. He has authored a book titled "War and Conflict Management between the Two Koreas" and published several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles in esteemed academic journals. His working papers on "Space Force Development for Maritime Domain Awareness" and "Post-JDZ strategy for more maritime territory" are highly regarded in academic circles.Prior to his academic career, Professor Bae had an extensive military career, serving in various capacities such as Executive Officer, Commanding Officer, and Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer in different ships and commands of the Republic of Korea Navy.
