I love being at the forefront of emerging technology. I’ve always had a passion for innovation in the tech space. Over the last decade, due to my success in growing and exiting my own technology businesses, I have grown to love creating businesses and building a great team and culture.In a three-decade career I’ve served as CEO and CTO to healthtech and gaming companies; headed up a business intelligence division at a software company; founded a big data and AI conference and held development and IT roles in fintech and education. With this multi-sector experience, my expertise lies at the intersection of technology, design, and business. This is what has allowed me to lead several successful technology companies in such various fields, including my current role in educational VR.I believe strongly in creating company cultures - this has such a powerful effect on the productivity of a business. I’m told this focus is something my team value.Outside of work, I love snowboarding and rock climbing, having climbed across four continents. I have also mentored startup founders through two voluntary organisations, SupporTED and Net Prophet Sparkup.

I oversaw a move to the head office to Seattle, USA and navigated the SA Reserve Bank exchange control challenges in transferring the IP from South Africa to the USA. On launching and growing the business in the US, I successfully navigated the business through Covid and utilised digital strategies to grow the business and secure a further $2m in Series A-2 funding.My proudest achievement is in building a remarkable team and incredible company culture through their support. -

CtoSea Monster Jun 2015 - Jun 2018Cape Town, Western Cape, ZaAs CTO for this Cape Town-based game and animation company, I implemented best practice agile delivery processes utilising SCRUM and design thinking elements into the engagement approach with Sea Monster customers.I delivered a number of successful Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mobile Games. In the former, they included Super Animals for Pick n Pay, Super Animals 2 for Pick n Pay, Whiskey Tasting for Pernod Ricard.In Virtual Reality: Pilot Training in VR using Oculus for SightSense, Working at Heights training in Vive for Arcelor Mittal and worked on game design and development for Disney Imagine Academy educational games and Bar Blitz for IMVU.During my role, I also stepped into a CEO post with Engage Genetics, a genetics startup incubated by Sea Monster. Here, I helped conceptualise the product, built the three year financial model, created the pitch deck and pitched to various VCs and Angels. Most notably we made it to the final round of the Illumina Accelerator in San Francisco.
