Firstly, I must say that I am a technology enthusiast. Since the day I started learning to code in school, I was hooked and wanted nothing more than to look deeper into technology. This led to me studying Computer Science from my GCSE’s up to further education and doing my undergraduate in Computer Science for which I am currently on track to achieve a first. I believe that technology can be used to automate processes to support everyday life, making life easier for everyone.Throughout my studies I have had the chance to study Python, .NET, Java and a few web based languages. These languages and other computer related topics strengthened my knowledge which allowed for me to get two IT/Computing related jobs. The first job I got was as a Computer Science teacher/tutor, teaching at St Andrews School. I taught the year 11 class Python during their lunch break and supported them in going over basic concepts. This strengthened my basic knowledge as I had to once again study most basic concepts and helped me develop a deeper level of communication skills as I had to teach the same concept to different students. Aside from my work as a tutor I also had a chance to work at Danone as an IT Placement. I worked primarily on the Service Desk however I also got a few opportunities throughout my year at work. Once I was used to working in the professional working environment, I was offered a chance to chair a UK and Ireland wide team meeting which gave me a huge confidence boost in my role. From this point on I was able to work my role without any issues and always had the confidence to approach and handle all issues appropriately. I also had the opportunity to work on a UK and Ireland wide project where we transferred every user over from one MDM system to another. This project gave me experience on project management as I got to see how things worked first-hand. I enjoyed working on this project as my suggestions where taken on board, affecting the course of the project. I also felt the new MDM system supported making things a lot more automated and made things easier for the business.
