Hadijah Nanyonjo is an enthusiastic social worker and psychologist with a budding career working with refugees. She works with organizations and institutions to realize the self-reliance of young people through research, advocacy, and program design and implementation.My current work lies in research (mental health and SRHR) specifically for adolescent girls and young women. Mental health and sexual and reproductive health are two sides of a coin and the role of both needs to be addressed in young people’s lives. Being able to help and create a positive impact in adolescent girls’ and young women’s lives to achieve their full potential is what makes my profession worthwhile.I studied social work and psychology at the School of Social Sciences, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda.I have emersed wealth in sexual reproductive health rights and social justice, mental health, and research. Through different employment opportunities and education, I have developed several expertise and capabilities including:. Experience in designing, managing, and implementation of SRHR programs. Experience in facilitating and training on age-appropriate comprehensive modules and referral to services for adolescents and young peopleOffering counselling, justice, and referral of victims of domestic violence to GBV shelters.. Delivering one-on-one personalised counselling sessions and group sessions to adolescents and young people.. Implementing programs for asylum seekers and refugees.. Engaged in policy advocacy programs on inclusive access to girl’s education.. Actively engaged with different stakeholders like communities, policy makers, and civil society organizations to achieve a common goal; the wellbeing of the people.I am open to partnerships and work focused on gender equality, gender based violence, social and behavioral change communication, research and other youth development opportunities.. Program Officer- Srhr And ImplementationRay Of Choice Africa Jan 2018 - Dec 2023Kampala, UgandaEngaged and fully participated in the African Regional Convening intended to draw a five years roadmap for the She Decides movement worldwide and co- formulated the writing of the country road map for the She Decides Uganda movement(2020)● Coordinated stakeholder policy meetings at district levels and advocated for client or client groups to the community and lobbied for SRHR changes to policy makers, wrote and presented position papers and resolutions at the district.● Investigated alleged or suspected cases of abuse and neglect and organized responses to protect at-risk persons through referral to medical services and legal support organizations, this helped victims acquire services, counseling and justice only if they agreed for the case to proceed to the courts of law.● Carried out qualitative research about the high increase on HIV/AIDS infections, unintended pregnancies, early / forced marriages and Gender Based Violence among the residents of three sub counties in Mayuge District in the Eastern region of Uganda.● Designed and implemented a comprehensive training for Mayuge District community health workers and youth champions where they advocated for their SRHR needs and developed advocacy materials.● Organized two African Rising Movement day celebrations on ending slavery in Africa. -

Prepared detailed reports for IYAFP including recommendations for strategic decision-making which improved IYAFP’s visibility and work in Uganda. -
