The Fourth Industrial Revolution Academy (FIRA) is the certificate program in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence offered by Big Data Institute (BDI), Seoul National University (SNU). BDI designed this program to ensure people who do not have a formal background in the field of AI have the education and training necessary to succeed in the AI-powered future. I participated to Artificial Intelligence Agent, one of the three specializations in this program. This specialization guided me through the latest advancements and technical approaches in AI technologies such as deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing to further my knowledge of this ever-evolving industry.I spent the nine months of the program:» Working through a curriculum of key topics in AI for six months.» Writing a research proposal based on my interests.» Working on a project laid out in my research proposal for three months with the guidance of mentors, renowned SNU faculty, and TA.▶ Key skills: Proficiency with Python; experience with TensorFlow and Keras

Under the supervision of Prof. Jae Young Kwon, I investigated the taste system of the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster with an emphasis on the peripheral taste organs, and the role of gustatory receptor genes specifying different gustatory receptor neurons.I have two first-author publications in Chemical Senses (2015) and Molecules and Cells (2017). My major contributions in these research papers are:» Defining bitter taste neurons in the larvae with behavior analysis. Chemical Senses (2015).I defined nine bitter compounds which elicit aversive behavior in larvae and showed that gustatory neurons act cooperatively in larval bitter sensing. It was a fundamental study that tested the variety of the bitters through neuronal inactivation experiments in various combinations of neuronal groups.» Discovering functional roles of the Gr2a with behavior analysis. Molecules and Cells (2017).I studied the function of a Gr2a by investigating the feeding response in adult fruit flies. Gr2a appears to be involved in feeding inhibition specifically with the food containing high concentrations of sodium ion. It was the first finding of a pharyngeal Gr involved in sensing high-sodium concentration.And a third- and second-author publications in Molecules and Cells (2017) and Plos Genetics (2018). My major contributions in these studies are:» Generating Gr64d mutant with the CRISPR/Cas9 system. Molecules and Cells (2017).This study suggests that Gr64d and Gr64f are involved in fructose sensitivity. I collaborated with Prof. Tanimura's Lab at Kyushu University.» Screening fatty acid receptor with behavior analysis. Plos Genetics (2018). Through this study, we discovered that Gr64e is involved in sensing fatty acid. I collaborated with Prof. Moon's Lab at Yonsei University.▶ Key expertise: behavior analysis, fly genetics, immunohistochemistry, and mutagenesis with the CRISPR/Cas9 system
