• Responsible for purchasing vehicle interior/exterior trim component parts (7 suppliers: ~$1 billion/yr buying power)• Accomplished supplier sourcing activity for upcoming new 2014 Sonata and 2017 Elantra model for 9 commodity groups (Annual purchasing amount: ~$105 million /yr)• Lead new part development activities toward mass production launch of new 2014 Sonata model. Activities include: Supplier capacity & investment cost review, tooling schedule follow up, part quality validation and assurance, and price negotiation• Conduct joint supplier process/quality audits with quality department for current and future suppliers to ensure high quality level of parts being purchased• Manage supplier performance (Capacity, quality, and delivery) to support HMMA’s production plan (399,500 vehicles and 720,000 engines)• Drive annual cost reduction activities such as productivity improvement, part localization, and innovative VA/VE idea submission to R&D (Cost reduction savings amounted to ~$2.8 million for 2014)

• Analyzed monthly part price fluctuation for each HMMA production model (Sonata & Elantra) and prepared Vehicle Material Cost Variance Report• Accountable for NAFTA and AALA (American Automobile Labeling Act) calculations per vehicle model• Prepared and monitored annual procurement and investment budget for purchasing division• Reported periodical performance and status report regarding purchasing division’s activity towards HMC head office and upper management• Developed and implemented internal policies and work procedures to ensure an efficient and professional purchasing operation• Provided bilingual services (Korean and English) including written translations and interactive translation for verbal conversations and meetings• Maintained up-to-date supplier information database (74 local part suppliers)
