At Glycomantra, Inc. (glycomantra.com), I am leading the translational glycobiology research, particularly the development of carbohydrate-based therapeutics of cancer and fibrosis.- Secured $1.7 Million from federal and state grant awards such as SBIR, STTR (NCI and NIDDK, NIH), CDMRP (DOD), and Maryland Innovative Initiative (TEDCO). - Also received NIH I-CORPS and Investor Initiative grants.- Published 5 peer-reviewed original articles and reviews on metabolic glycoengineering, nanomagnetolectin, and autophagy in high impact journals such as Biomaterials and Oncotarget.

Consulting on the development of sensitive and rapid diagnostic tests for infectious diseases.

-Conceptualized, developed and managed research projects (design, supervision, and data interpretation) focusing on prostate and breast cancers. -Lead Inventor of 3 patents on diagnosis and therapeutics of cancer.-Principal investigator of 4 grants from state and federal funding agencies (NIH, DOD, and TEDCO), and secured funding of over $3 Million as PI/Co-PI. Wrote grant reports to the funding agencies.-Reviewed grant proposals for NSF, BBSRC (UK), and universities.-Directed and supervised the activities of 11 personnel (4 postdocs, 5 graduate students, 1 undergraduate student, 1 high school student).-Delivered protein chemistry course and invited lectures on glycobiology-Serving as an Associate Editor for five journals. -Reviewed manuscripts for many journals including PNAS, JBC, and Glycobiology. -Authored a book on protein techniques (CRC Press). Co-edited a book on lectin function (Taylor and Francis).-Organized and chaired research symposiums, group meetings and collaborative consultations with diverse group of individuals. -Served on the dissertation committees of three graduate students.-Participated in the administrative processes such as recruitment, performance evaluation of research and administrative personnel and budgetary needs of the laboratory. -Discovered two new regulation of galectin-3 expression (epigenetic and STAT3).-Discovered that human galectin-3 is involved in promoting prostate cancer (work published in PNAS).-Isolated and purified a natural glycopeptide that works as an anti-metastatic agent of prostate cancer (PNAS).-Published over 80 original articles in peer-reviewed journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Biomaterials, Journal of Immunology, and Journal of Biological Chemistry. -Oral or poster presentations in several international and national conferences.-Delivered presentations at academic institutions and pharmaceutical organizations.
