  One of 12 summer research fellows selected from a pool of 500+ applicants. Research Experience for Undergraduates program supported by the National Science Foundation, hosted by the Syracuse Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Engagement and the School of Information Sciences.Research ProjectData Collection and Preprocessing:Collected over 3.78 million tweets related to immigration from key periods between 2021 and 2024.Filtered dataset to focus on posts from 381 unique serial participants, resulting in a final sample size of 14,172 tweets.Employed rigorous preprocessing techniques to ensure data quality, including duplicate removal, language filtering, and metadata extraction.Source Categorization:Developed a comprehensive source categorization methodology for classifying users.Analyzed the distribution of misinformation across these categories.Research and Analysis:Conducted a quantitative analysis to investigate the prevalence and sources of misinformation within immigration-related discourse.Explored the roles and impacts of serial participants in spreading misinformation on Twitter, highlighting their sustained engagement and influence.Key Findings and Implications:Identified that General Users and Bots are the largest contributors to misinformation(58.42%).Highlighted the significant role of serial participants in the propagation of misinformation. Presented a detailed statistical analysis of user engagement metrics, follower counts, and the prevalence of misinformation.Presentation:Presented findings to the National Student Data Corp 2024 Data Science Symposium, hosted by the Northeast Big Data Innovation Hub, in the category of 'Responsible Data Science: Security, Privacy, and Ethics.’
